This is one of the most common questions I get in practice…and most times people have no clue to the correct answer…for them.
My answer is always the same: it all depends on what’s going on. You need to understand that these are just tools to help your health. Here’s what you should always keep in mind:
Emergency = MD
Everything else = Holistic, non-invasive medicine
I see a big problem in our country right now with what we call “healthcare”. As a society, there’s a knee-jerk reaction when we feel ill to have the need for a drug or surgery.
The main reason we have skyrocketing healthcare costs and a lower state of health in our country is due to the fact that we have it all backward.
Hippocrates stated a long time ago “let they food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food” and “look to the spine FIRST in health and disease”
He only resorted to drugs and surgery as a last line therapy after exhausting all forms of non-invasive therapies.
It’s unfortunate that the average physician today immediately will pop open their prescription pad, eager to give a pill for an ill.
In our office, we hold to the precepts of Hippocrates when he encourages the physician to learn about the patient rather than the disease.
